BGF - that may be worth a try - if they accept responsibility.

Scoobydooby - Now that is what I was thinking last night. The only answer I can give is I think so. Only a few days ago I decided to clear out old emails. After all the Christmas buying of presents over the internet (the TT map was one) by the whole family using my email address the inbox was cluttered, so we all went through deleting things that have been delivered. Not for one moment did I think that there would be a problem with TT as I had received the download and obviously (?) my credit card had been accepted ... or so I thought. If I hear from TT I will report. I will contact the credit card people tomorrow (no-one there at the weekend). My order is shown on the TT site but it says 'expired', as if they were waiting for payment, but surely they would not have allow a download to take place unless payment had been verified using my credit card details that I entered?

how about temporarily recreating the email account on another PC, chances are that the email will still be on the server & if so it should download again (amongst all of the other old emails Wink ).

Come on Tim, this is about a license agreement not physical goods. TomTom could cancel this at a keystroke and not resort to sucking the gas through a garden hose. What would PGPSW do if a subscription payment bounced? I've a fair idea what would happen to such an agreement as my motor insurance.

We are obviously not going to agree on this. Payment has been offered, the goods shipped and then payment not taken.

I stand to be corrected but I reckon that PGPSW would allow the OP to 'get away' with using what they'd already downloaded. But of course, a map download and activation isn't a subscription service either.

I maintain my stance: I would have no qualms at all about using a map I had downloaded from TomTom, which download they allowed and which activation they supplied, until TomTom told me I had to stop using it.

Done.

but upon the next attempt validation would be refused, which is what I am suggesting be the TomTom approach.

Absolutely. I certainly wouldn't expect TomTom to issue a second activation should the original one fail to work.
