Right well, I went and downloaded "UK - consolidated by type"

It's unzipped, and Tom Tom is plugged in and backed up (thanks to all for advice so far).

On to stage 2...

Right, well they're on!

They replaced previous files (had camera warnings on already, just out of date) so I think they're in the right place.

Fingers crossed...

Thanks everyone for all your kind help, really couldn't have done it without you.

Do think the original instructions could do with a rewrite though, they're not followable from scratch... Confused

Thanks again all! Not Worthy

Ari2

Just in case it helps you in the future, take a backup of your TT and then upgrade it to a current version of software (which you can get help with via this forum if you have trouble). You can then install TomTom Home on your PC which will make all future updates far easier to install as you wont have to worry about where files get saved, etc. It will also keep your GO software up to date.

No doubt you'll now see a string of posts telling you why you shouldn't do this, but I used it successfully with my GO700 before it got nicked.

Personally, I find it easier and I've done 20 years in IT...
