Apart from the running costs, does traffic work - i.e. warning users of jams etc, or is it a waste of money. The south east uk seems to be getting worse every year.... and that wonderful carpark the government call the M25.......

Does it work....

yes and no.....

sometimes brilliant other times not BUT it saved me from missing a ferry last month by telling me the m20 was shut - the overhead boards just said slow traffic and it routed me around it. For that it was worth it and I'll be renewing later this month for another year - provided something concrete comes out about v6 for pda's.

Saved me a 4 hour wait at Dover - another guy I was meeting missed the boat because of this accident.

Thanks for that, I might just consider it...

And as for v6. Is that an option for us & if so, will it be any better for us than 5.0 - will wel have to wait for Tom Tom to come out with 6.21 before we get a stable version?

PS I'm not normally cynical, but having used Palm's and now WM5 devices for 22 months now...

Just a couple of points the RDS TMC units as listed is an accesory for use with the Go-x10 products as far as I know its not available for sale at the moment.

I doubt it will work with a PDA based device as there is nowhere to connect it. You are limitted to the traffic supplied via GPRS and its associated subscription and downloading charges.

TMC does not use your car radio in any way, the data is broadcast along side existing FM channels, but the TMC unit will pick up the signal using its own aerial, or better still its own external aerial (if equipped to accept one) - Mike
