Hi again, bit of a strange one this, all I can suggest is to try and reload all the speed cameras again, take the batteries out and put them back again.
Then check all your settings are the same and try again, are you POSITIVE that PROXIMITY alerts ar on. Failing that I`m not sure what else you can do. Maybe one of the resident oracles may have some suggestions.

Thanks again for all your help with this. He tried all what you suggested and it still isn't giving alerts. It is recognising the cameras are there cos it's counting down on approach to them but not giving the 'bong' anymore. Totally baffling for everybody by the sound of it. It's probably something very simple that we're doing wrong, it's just a matter of finding out what!! |

As a matter of interest which speed camera files did you install and how?
I am asking because initially I got it wrong the first time as I downloaded the wrong files. Is it possible for you to write down what steps you took to download etc so we can see if this has been done correctly. Like you said , it is something probably really simple. We`ll get there eventually dont worry ( fingers crossed job) Look at me I have now managed to get a proper quote on here. ( dont let on to minime though )

I downloaded the POI Loader and POI's from the Garmin site and the latest update for speed cameras from gpsworld. That is what he has installed in to his i3. With the first one, he did exactly the same but with the previous cameras (before the update) and it worked ok.
I would have thought the alerts should be 'on', but who am I to question that, I don't even have one?!?! I am only the messenger. |

(thud - sound of forehead hitting wood...) ;-)
Instead of everybody re-inventing the wheel, please thoroughly read:-

...and make specific note of REV A, and:-

When you can confirm you've followed that to the letter, then we can be sure that there's a real problem, rather than simply procedure / understanding. |

Hi tj and go-between,
I dont know how you feel about following the instructions given in the thread but if you find it a bit daunting I can send you written copies of a file sent to me via e-mail from a very nice man from garmin.
It explains things in KISS method:IE Keep It Simple Stupid. Which I asked him to do. If you require this please send me a pm with your name and address and I will send it to you. I will also send you a pm with more info, hope this is of some use to you. It is quite difficult initially as is anything you havent done before but after doing it once or twice it then becomes second nature.

|
|
I'm afraid I've got incredibly confused trying to get camera info onto by Nuvi.
I have tried to follow instructions from website to website & downloaded;
Poi loader 20, pgpsw speed cams, poi edit v40, poi sync, garmin uk speed zoned complete
All to the pc and nuvi 300...and nothing happens
Could I have an idiots guide please!!
