I did but that wont do , he has seen a few friends with pdas and thats him hooked as i asked why not a tomtom? and that was his justification, he wants to list all points of interest before going to usa then visit one by one and be able to programe his work rota into it for the year. Fair point and also you can get games that the kids can play on holiday as 2 kids and 1 gba just doesnt go, this would also stop the fighting.
We did look into the phone option but decided against that, as the phone was a 6680 and we could have went down that road (possibly still could) but the phone was locked to 3 and they wont unlock it and contract finished. New contract started in january 6270 and then sneaky 2nd contract in feb for my pink 6111 :D so no more contracts for me. I think we are truley settled on the mio A201. Just need to find a decent price with tt5 and major european routes or tt5 with maps of europe.

The best way for this is enter all details into MS Outlook and when synchronised, data, including Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Tasks etc, will pass from Desktop to Pocket PC, and vice versa.
The cheapest I can find for the A201 with TTN5 Software and Full European mapping (including GB), excluding e-bay, is globalpositioningsystems.
Make sure the advert shows:-
A201 with TTN5 Software and Full European mapping (including GB).
If you do buy from e-bay, speak to the seller and ask if the maps have already been activated. If they have, don't buy.
Enjoy your holiday. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

I called Global positioning this morning and the guy was very helpfull, the only way to do it on the a201 is to buy the software and then if required buy the extra maps as the software and maps together option just wont work, its only the sd card option that works, so i really need to find out what is being sold on ebay.
Am i allowed to post a link to the auction that im looking at?

No hang on, there is now a patch available from Mitac. It's mentioned in one of the threads. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Hello folks - first post - first entry into the Sat Nav world as my new car doesn't have it built in.
I liked the look of the Mio 201 and TT5, and was on the verge of buying one when I spotted a post from a BBC researcher looking for a potential buyer to assist in them in a TV show.
Needless to say I got what I wanted (actually, he got what I wanted...) for £295 from Inkino in Tottenham Court Road. (I did say I wouldn't tell....)
It's all working correctly (after doing the http://www.ttcode.com/ thing), and the version I have has all the major European roads. :D
There has been lots written on the forums about the Mio201 and TT5 not working together, but mine was fine, without any patches, hot fixes, or similar mucking around, so I hope the following helps some of you.....
For the record, I have the following on a 256mB SD card:
TT Navigator 5.210 (5430)
GPS driver v1.20
Map 'Great_Britain_Plus_Map' v631
Windows Mobile V5.0
OS 5.1.70
GPS program port COM4
GPS hardware port COM2 Baud rate 4800
GPS hardware is "other NMEA GPS"
GPS connected to GPS_HWCOM
The question is, what useful software should I get loaded on the device now I'm up and running

Lost_Marbles, hello neighbour, Rainham isn't far away.
You tell me where my property is and I'll tell you what I did with your marbles. :P
Excellent first post.
One addition you should think about is the PGPSW Safety Camera database. You know what it's like around Medway.
It's costs £2 per month membership or £19 a year. However, if you are the first to report a new, moved or removed camera, not mobiles, and it's confirmed, there's a good chance you'll get a free life membership. :D
Eh, and Happy St. George's Day to all who read this thread. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
