Problem with the small screen is when the I3 gives you a bum route which it will sooner or later - Its almost impossible to work out where its taking you. OK you will get home in the end. I know in theory you can check route whatever but on the bigger screen you can see more map detail about where you are going , you can also see the list of directions down the side with the map.

mine has not gave me a bum route yet

Or zoom in!

Tried going off route today and it recalculated in 30 secs. Went off route again and did same, but quicker.

Navman says make u turn or scratches its head, so I am told by the people at work who are very jelous of mine as it has the new ring road etc in.

Also if you can tell it is a bum route then you must know the correct route to your destination and then why use a GPS in the first place ????

Or get the software to link the i3 to the PC and look at a huge screen.

You never tire, nor listen, do you.

The first time I used my i3 it gave me a bad route - I didn't know the route to where I was going - well certainly not all of it. But I did know that trying to take me in the way it did was exceedingly odd, certainly not more direct, less miles, or quicker. On the way home, it took my a more direct route.

Be in denial all you want - but one thing is clearly emerging from this - i3 users appear to have numerous instances of experiencing dubious routes.

Now whether this is something specific to an i3, or whether it's something you could encounter with any other GPS sat nav, I'm not sure - my i3 is my first.

lester..i agree with you , the i3 does sometimes take you on a strange route ...but with the combination of some knowledge of where you are going, signposts and common sense and the i3, anyone should get to their destination ..(hopefully)..

I'm kinda finding a little battle, now, within the family when we drive somewhere - because the i3 has come up with some "creative" routes, in the past - family members have little confidence that the i3 won't tell us to go around the proverbial houses to get to our destination.

Don't get me wrong, I and the rest of the family believe that the i3 will get us where we want to go - however, far from convinced, now, that it will be an expedient route.

And the thing with the routes being that you may not know the full route to where you want to go - but having sat nav, you don't tend to bother with anything else - yet you recognise obvious anomalies when you encounter them.

The i3 will prove to be something of a dead duck to me, if the rest of the family has no confidence (because of previous wierd routes) in using it, when we go somewhere.
