With the 300 connected to the PC, just delete the Norton part with Windows Explorer.

While you're connected to the PC, how many ov2 files do you have in the Map Folder?

Hi there Richard,
Well I'm having all sorts of problems with my TomTom!While on the M1 it told me I was on the M69 and told me to take the third exit off the roundabout(which there isn't one on the M1!!)
According to the flash card I have numerous safety cameras some which are duplicated so I have obviously done something wrong! I can't delete anything off the 300 either and the cameras aren't in POI.How I wish I could go back in time to before I even tried to do anything with it!!but I have to say when I had the cameras on it was good.
I am going to buy another flash card and try again to download onto a different one.
I'm also wondering iff it's a problem with my PC.it's not even a year old yet but already I have had to reinstall three times which is a real pain!
Take care and Thankyou.
Any ideas are gratefully appreciated.

The problems you experienced are probably down to the fact that you have very little free space left on the card. A clean install for a 300 is about 118MB.

The 'backup' you have on the PC - is there about 101MB in the Map Folder and about 118MB in all the backup? A bigger card is always better with your scenario.

If it is greater than this then that could be your problem. There should be 12 files in the Map Folder.

I have:
setup.dat
poi.dat
traffic.dat
Great_Britain.mid
tmcodes.dat
cline.dat
mapinfo.dat
faces.dat
cnode.dat
cname.dat
Great_Britain.pna
Great_Britain-Map.cfg

Make a note of any others in there and report back.

Hi there Richard,
You won't know how pleased I was to see that you had replied to me,I feel so fed up with trying to sort this tomtom out. Am I reading the right things as from my card out of the tomtom I have 7 folders which are :
Great Britain
itn
Licences
Script
TomTom-Cfg
voices
zip

then various icons:
autorun
connect2internet
connect2internet.so
Current Map
data chk
splash
system
tomtom
tomtom.aid
ttgo.bif
ttsystem

Does the above look right to you or have I mucked something up along the way?
There seems more on it now than before but I don't seem to have found the way to delete what needs deleting and I daren't try yet without your advice. The tomtom won't accept the larger capacity storage card despite my efforts at reformatting and reloading info.
Any advice and help gratefully received.
Thankyou

From your list, I can see that you have the Folder View Option for 'Hide Extensions for known File Types' ticked. It might help to untick it, to help identification.

In your second list the only file that seems to be missing is 'spsystem'. I'm not sure but I think this is something to do with the Boot Loader. It might be why TT won't run.

It's me again Richard,
I went out and bought a new SD card 256mb that is supposed to be for pda use as well as cameras etc.Guess what the TT still won't accept it.
I went back to factory settings and the cameras for August are on there but they don't work on the TT when in motion. Any new ideas?my husband says to just 'chuck the useless thing in the bin!'but I am determined it is going to work,I have to for my self esteem!
Take care
Bye for now

Can you verify whether you have a file called spsystem in your backup?

Hi Richard,
I was just looking at the various icons on my TT and in the autorun one(has a picture of 2 cogs on it) it has Install on it, does this mean anything?Should I install it?it's the only one with Install amongst the list of e.g. Send To, Cut, Copy etc.
Take care

It doesn't work quite like that. The TT is a Linux Device and the file extensions are put to different uses compared to Windows. The Autorun file is an .inf file. Under Windows this would be a program that would Autorun, for example, a CD when inserted into a PC. This Autorun is a container for information only.

Have you found the spsystem file yet?

Hi Richard,
I have looked all through everything on the TT and there is no spsystem, is it a necessity?why can I not find it? Where else should I be looking?
I am grateful for all your help.Thankyou
Barbara

Does your original card still work?

If so, copy the spsystem file from that and paste it to the backup, into the same folder as the ttsystem and system files.

Then copy it back to the SD card ... and yes it is necessary.

Hi Richard,
Sorry that I've been a while in replying but I have been busy trying to work things out with the TT. I have achieved something tonight I managed to get the 300 to accept the 256 SD card, only thing is I don't have maps on it even though I copied and pasted everything individually as you told me to a few letters ago. Is it something to do with the little switch on the card being in the wrong position?
My original card does work as a basic one with no additions but I would really love to get the safety cameras on and now I have the 256 in maybe when I get the maps on I can get the cameras on!
It's Thanks to you that I've even got this far so at present I feel quite pleased but I'm not finished yet!
Tinribs a.k.a. Barbara

What happens for you to say that you haven't got the maps, but that you copied them? Where did you put them?

Do you have a Great_Britain-Map Folder? Does it have about 12 files in the Map Folder?

Hi there,
Yes there is a Great_Britain maps folder and according to the TT in My Computer it shows maps 8 of them but 4 are safety cameras don't know why or how! When I switch the TT off and use it away from the PC it just shows that there are no maps. What have I done wrong?
