TomTom works just fine off street. It won't show any features but you can use the map function to show you a general direction.

I use TomTom 5 and find that it will not just direct me straight to an off-road waypoint but will attempt to take me a long way around via any roads it knows about that happen to be nearby, even if I have asked for a walking route. Is there some trick I am missing? _________________ Kam |

In short, no. I really dont think there is a GPS device on the market specifically designed to find ones car in an unknown city. However it might not be long......

I have bought a Garmin Quest from a dealer on eBay for $334. Has all the downloadable maps. Voice guidance, 5 million POI, easiliy set way points and a 20 hour battery life. I think that it will do just what I want.
