Hi,
I have upgraded to tom tom 5 too. Also having the wake up notification alert.
I have tried the check notification fix, but it still occurs each time i switch off and switch on while running TT5 ,(compaq 3850)
Has anyone got any other possible fixes please ?
Is it possible to upgrade the operating software for a fix ?
It is very annoying !!!!!
Thanks

Hi Ant,
It depends on your original PDA vendor.
This is a problem associated with Windows Mobile 2003 where notifications of events such as program starts and soft resets are not cleared from a database when they should be.
In an ideal world we would be able to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 Second edition, which has cured this. Not all PDA’s are sent out with SE and most companies will not provide an upgrade.
Notification events will only cause problems if they start to multiply
I have found other software which will automatically clear duplicate event notifications after a soft reset (This is what causes the problems) and you can also manually delete any other troublesome entries. The program is called MemMaid form Dinar software and is available from:
Handango or Pocketgear
And there is a useful page on how to use Here
DO NOT DELETE EVENTS THAT YOU DON’T KNOW. IT MAY CAUSE SERIOUS POBLEMS _________________ Tomtom GO 710 + TMC RDS

If this is an OS fault, why does this happen with TTN5 and never happened with TTN2/3? I don't recall seeing this with any other application on the PPC (and I develop GPS tracking software for them!)
The whole point of PPC architecture is you can turn it off and have things ready to go when turned back on. Having to soft reset is a complete pain.
I also noticed that my 'charging' light (on ipaq 3870) wouldn't come on after having this error - as soon as I reset it was back. |

Just installed the update to version 5.10 and it seems to have fixed the error.
Anyone else found this? |

I know this is an old thread, but I have to bring it up again.
I am also having this notification error and I tried all of the solutions suggested in this thread to solve the problem.
Let me give clear description of the situation.
I am running TT5 on an IPAQ3850 running PocketPC 2002.
After a clean install I do get the notification error when I power up the unit after a shutdown while TT5 was still running.
When I don't have TT5 running neither check_notification nor MemMaid have entries I would have to delete according to the posts in this thread.
When I have TT5 running and start up the check-notification program I can see the EventWakeUpTomTom running and I can delete it. If I delete it, I can power off and on again without shutting down TT5 and there is no notification error.
However, when I completely stop TT and start it up again, the problem is back. When I then shut down the IPAQ and power on again, the notification is there again.
Same for MemMaid. When I have TT running I can see an entry called "\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\EventWake..etc". There are no duplicates. When I delete the entry the notification does not pop up anymore after switcing off and on.
However, when I stop TT and start it up again, the problem appears again after powering off and on.
All in all, both MemMaid and check-notification can solve the problem, but only until I restart TT.
I upgraded to 5.1 and 5.21, but there is no change in behavior.
I also upgraded to PocketPC 2003 and this does solve the problem, but in return I get another one: the charging process over the sigarettelighterplug in my car will stop after some time running TomTom.
Did anyone find a permanent solution to this problem? |

Mmm, apparently no definite solution under Windows PPC2002. I have upgraded my 3850 to PPC2003. Upgrades float around at eBay for less than $2. |

The solution is to exit TTN before you send your PDA to standby ("switch it off").
the OS upgrade you purchased on eBay is illegal - please do not discuss this here. _________________ Lutz

Sorry..I didn't know. But out of curiosity: HP doesn't sell it anymore. Is there a legal option to upgrade? |
