Indeed. Take a look at eBay and do a search for TomTom. There are low life's there selling our FREE database and POI compilation's of data leeched from us and other enthusiast sites and provided by the authors FOC.

we can always click the link on ebay "Ask seller a question" then just ask "is this the database from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php"

if im not mistaken all questions asked are showen on the item page.

i saw it the other day when someone was selling a link for £1.99 it gave you £30 off TTG 300 if you registered for a newsletter, some guy beat me to it and asked "good old maplins" Laughing Out Loud his reply from the seller was "yes but i hope i can save others £28.01p by helping them"

Actually the questions only appear on the auction page if the seller chooses to make them public when he replies to you via email so this wouldn't work. In your case the seller was clearly not familiar with eBay! It'd be a nice idea iof it did work as you suggest but you can imagine how it would be open to abuse in legitimate sales with people posting links to 'my sale is better' or disgruntled buyers/sellers using it as an opportunity to complain or worse.
