ill probably get flamed for this but here goes
1 dont drive so fast in the fist place i use the 25 on regular basis its like race track
2 the phrase EXIT AHEAD usually means take foot off the go fast pedal (yes it does have more than two positions wide open & idle) because your exit is approaching and the box in the top right hand box tells you the next motorway junction as does the arrow and the miles/yards indicator also gives a good inication as to when you turning is
sorry for the rant but its friday ive done 70ish hours this week and wont be back until tomorrow thats better rant over

That's rich coming from the Dual Carriage nightmare that is V5 and H3.

Usually get them around 5pm Southbound on the A421 trying to get onto the M1 at J13, often tails back to Lower End.

It was 7.30am joining the M25 from the M4, how fast do you think I was going? 8O I'd have struggled to do the limit on the bike, never mind in the car.

That's fair play, I don't know how anyone can drive for a living these days, I only used to do 30k a year and it drove me nuts after 3 years, now I enjoy my nice 20 mile commute on the bike each day Laughing

The roundabout on the H5 just off the A5 (centre roundabout of the three in this map) can only be described as a mess. Traffic lights on roundabouts are never good here, as it prevents traffic merging naturally. The problem at that location is the sheer volume of traffic.

That part of the A421 is a complete nightmare - at the very least it needs dualling, and ideally it needs the (oft talked about, but seemingly having disappeared from the latest Highways Agency) plans Junction 13A to join the A421 to a southbound entry slip and a northbound exit slip from the M1. The problem is that the Highways Agency now work to 2km junction spacings, and it would be a struggle to get a viable Junction 13A sufficiently north of Junction 13.

Really, that route wasn't designed to take all the traffic it does, wanting to leave Milton Keynes to head southbound down the M1 in the evening rush. However, you can understand people not fighting their way across to Junction 14 in the evening rush, as that's jammed enough.

It is, however, frustrating for me, as when I go that way I'm not wanting the motorway at all - I want to get out of Milton Keynes and take the A507 towards home. Unfortunately the only other routes home - through Wavendon and Woburn Sands, or via the A5 and Woburn, are not good for other reasons.

Junction 13 is proposed to be completely rebuilt if the proposal to replace the A421 with a new dual carriageway between Junction 13 and the Bedford Southern Bypass at Kempston goes ahead.

The roundabout at the immediate west of Junction 13 is awful (though, to be fair to Milton Keynes, that is in Bedfordshire, as is the latter part of the A421 between Milton Keynes and M1 J13 - the sole overbridge on that stretch is pretty much at the county boundary).

this isnt always the case though - i have missed a couple of junctions before as it has waited too late to tell me to exit!

Nonsense. If you miss a junction it's entirely your own fault. TomTom gives you plenty of warning. In fact it tells you where your next junction is and how many miles are to the next junction just after you exit the junction before that. In some cases on the safety screen it will tell you the next two junctions.

If you had any sense you would be watching the count down timer from time to time and know that your junction is coming soon, plus you should also be reading those big blue signs over and beside the road which give you a big clue as to the necessary junction.

The only way you can miss the junction with both TomTom and common sense navigating is if you are totally alseep. In which case nothing will help you.
