I agree w/you about activesync, but I had already installed the software and the unit wouldn't work. Only after downloading the latest version did I get the unit to work. Strange? Perhaps, but I'm happy now and enjoying the navigation.

As you say, at the end of the day it is working, that is all that matters!

Yes that is strange, 3.8 is quite new anyway, and it always worked fine with 3.7.1. so I couldn't see 3.8 working over 3.7.1.

My guess is that the ActiveSync that was on there was not functioning correctly, and therefore didn't copy the files over correctly which is why it didn't work. Upgrading to 3.8 simply fixed it. Removing/reinstalling 3.7.1 might've worked too.

First time I've seen that as a problem though!

Update: now tomtom doesn't work at all. It worked on and off for less than 1 week, and it was great while it lasted. I spoke to customer service and they said there's a problem between the port where the y cable plugs in, and the software. I do not recommend anyone get a wired tomtom for toshiba e335. I am now going to buy a dell axim x30, as tomtom makes a glove fit car kit for it, and tomtom says it's a much more reliable unit.

Update: the product doesn't work anymore. It worked on and off for a week or so, then just stopped. Apparantly, according to tomtom, there's a problem w/the serial port of the pda not communicating to the software in the toshiba. They said the toshiba pda is not a good model for gps. Now I'm faced w/buying a new pda b/c I really want gps. Why would they sell a product for the toshiba if it's known to have problems?

It must have been pure luck that it worked, b/c it only worked for a few days. Tomtom said their product doesn't work well w/toshibas, so I just bought a dell axim x30 and glove fit cradle and am hoping it will work now. I'll report back.
