marklemac wrote: | Hi,
My first post, so be gentle with me.
I have a Mio 168 with tomtom v3.02 and have it linked to my Mac (OS X) via PocketMac Pro.
I have downloaded the ARM CAB files and have them on screen, but am not sure where to put them in my Mio directory for them to take effect..
I figure its just a case of bunging them in the correct directory and then reboot the Mio.
Can someone point me in the right direction.
Oh PS, The PocketMac Pro software is excellent.
Thanks,
Mark. |
I put mine in the tomtom directory _________________ Ipaq 2210 (rom 1.10)

No, it doesn't matter where you put the CAB files. Once you transferred them to the Pocket PC you find them in Pocket File Explore and tap on them - this will start the installation. After installation the CAB files get deleted automatically. If you don't want that "feature" then make them read-only before you transfer them.
There are a number of registry editors around. I am using the one built into the Resco Explorer suite. Have a look at Handango or other sites.
The keys that needs changing are here:
HKLM\Software\TomTom\TomTom Navigator\Maps
You have two string values that need to be adjusted. One value pointing to the map folder
"California" = "\Storage Card\California-Map"
and the other one defining which map to open
"LastMap" = "California"
Verify that both links point to valid values. (The quotes are only shown to indicate string values, they should not be included) _________________ Lutz

Hi,
I copied mine to the SD Card first, and then copied them to My Documents in main memory and executed them from there, this saved a lot of time when I "accidentally" did a hard reset., and had to execute them again.
Do I gather though that I could have made them read only and still executed them, thus avoiding a second copy?

There are 3 files for the female english voice on the disk, do I just put the zip file on the sd card or do I need all 3?

You probably copied the ZIP file over. You need to extract the CAB from the ZIP before you copy it to the Pocket PC.

oh no! hold your horses...
You need only one CAB file (your language choice, ARM processor). Click the appropriate link on the download page, save to your desktop. Unzip ONCE so that the CAB file lands on you rdesktop. Transfer the CAB file to your Pocket PC and execute it there.
Do NOT unzip the CAB file AGAIN! _________________ Lutz

Those are for Pocket PCs or Handheld PCs with different processors. Back in the Pocket PC 2000 days there were also Pocket PCs with non-ARM processors available, namely Cassiopeias and Jornadas.
Since Pocket PC 2002 only ARM processors are supported (for whatever reason) so it's a safe bet that your PocketPC has one, too. _________________ Lutz

We do not recommend installation of GPS 3.07 - we recommend 2.07 instead. This gives much less issues when you want to use your Pocket PC with other GPS applications and you use a BlueTooth receiver. (Certain TomTom GPS versions are blocking access tot he BT Receiver for other programs)

I've installed 3.07 TTN and 3.07 GPS on my ipaq 4150 before I read this. The box came with 3.03.
Can I now revert to GPS 2.07 [or 3.03] by using the cab file or do I need to uninstall the lot and start again? Is that easy, I'm still new to this world but learning fast thanks to all the great info here

The article is only relevant for people that want to use multiple GPS programs. If you ever only will use TomTom then there is no need for you to change anything. _________________ Lutz
