Don't give up just yet.

Can you afford a hard reset to try a new start? ( I think you still have traces of the 2.09 installed)

We know for sure that 2.07 works on your device

I have been toying with that idea, but have been reluctant. All of my contact info is backed up, but that will kill any applications I've downloaded, won't it? Favorites, etc.?

yes, unless you have done a full backup to storage card.

How about this - do a full backup, then a hard reset, and then try a clean install of just TTN2.24 and TT GPS 2.07. If it still doesn't work you can simply restore your backup.

Will do. Last question:

How do I actually DO a hard reset? Does it require breaking the warranty seal inside my pda to get to the backup battery? I hope not.

Here's how (you may need nmultiple personalities for that)

CAUTION: If you perform a full reset, you will return to your default settings and lose all information.

Disconnect the iPAQ from the power source /cradle
Press and hold the Power button
Press the Reset button on the side panel of the iPAQ Pocket PC with the stylus. This should be on the lower left hand side

Hold all buttons until the displayed image begins to fade (approximately four seconds).

Release the Power button and remove the stylus.

NOTE: You can verify a full reset by pressing the Power button. If the iPAQ Pocket PC has been fully reset, it will not turn on. (unless you connect Power)

Didn't work, Lutz. Sorry. Just does a soft reset. Tried it exactly as you described.

Ugh.

you have to do these button presses ALL AT THE SAME TIME...

If you don't have enough fingers for that, try this instead:

To perform a hard reset:
1. Press and hold buttons 1 and 4 on the front of the device
and, at the same time, with the stylus, briefly press the Reset
button on the bottom of your HP iPAQ.
Note: Verify the full reset by pressing the Power button. When
the HP iPAQ has been fully reset, it does not power on until the
battery is reactivated.
2. A hard reset deactivates the battery. The Power button does
not function until the battery is reactivated. To reactivate the
battery:
❏ Connect the AC Adapter to the HP iPAQ to charge the
device.
Or:
❏ Briefly press the Reset button with the stylus.

You did it, Lutz.

It works.

Thank you so much.

You'll hear from me soon, on more positive notes!

Thanks again.

I'm using GPS 3.07 on my hx4700 - not 2.07 as mistakenly reported earlier in this thread.

3.07 is the GPS version that TomTom recommends for Windows Mobile 2003 devices such as the rx3715 and hx4700. It doesn't interfere with the Bluetooth stack at all on my hx4700 - I suspect the same Bluetooth stack is used on the rx3715 so I expect (but can't guarantee) no interference.

Hi, David,

I haven't seen 3.07 anywhere. Do you have a link for that driver in case mine goes south again?

Miraculously, after three solid days of monkeying with it, with GREAT SUPPORT from the community here, I finally got a fix yesterday and everything seems to be working. That's after doing a hard reset and installing 2.07.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but it still does seem a little tentative, so a backup plan wouldn't be a bad thing. Thanks!

GPS 3.07 should be available from support.tomtom.com in the Downloads section - but there's a chance that you'll have saved cookies as a Navigator USA user and it won't show.

If you've got things working, I'd leave well alone, mind you!
