it says v3.03 415/408
What does that mean

It means that you _may_ run inot problems when you try to start CoPilot because TomTom _may_ have occupied the BT port. 3.03 is supposed to be benign, but suspicions still prevail. The safest thing would be to downgrade to 2.07 which is known to cooperate well with CoPilot. _________________ Lutz

A big SD card would help. Personally I'm running a 1GB SD in my main PPC and a 2.2Gb MagicStor hard drive in the CF slot.
You should be able to install as many different GPS apps as you want without fear of problems. You might now and again get the odd program not liking to sit side by side but this is extremely rare.
Currently I have:-
- Destinator 3
- TomTom Navigator 3
- CoPilot Live 5
- Navman SmartST V2
- Mapopolis
- TeleType
- Navigon
All these are installed under the same PPC. They all work well, the only thing you need to be warey off is installing them to storage cards and not main memory because otherwise you're available program memory will reduce substantially when you try to install this many programs. |

Dave,
Incredible!!!
I am not even on the bottom rung of the ladder. I guess I have just started by putting one foot on the bottom rung and the other still on the ground.
Have always worried about srewing up everything on computers.
Thanks and regards

Someone said Copilot is 35 pounds more than TT3. That is not accurate. Once you are satisfied with a product, you will want the updates, to keep up with bug fixes, additional functionality, support for new GPS units of course, but essentially for updates to maps and POI and support for new O/S versions (Windows 2003 coming up)
This is going to cost you your shirt and pants with Copilot. Believe me, I am at my 3rd upgrade by necessity (this last time because the poor manufacturing of their CDs had me lose one that they wouldn't replace...) and generally their upgrades are higher priced than the competitors'.

I was about to make the same point. Existing owners of TomTom 2 were able to upgrade to TomTom3 earlier this year for less than £40
A similar upgrade from CoPilot 4 to 5 cost nearer to £150

Twas me. It IS £35 but I agree any upgrade cost if they follow the current strategy would make folk think twice. A new CP5 software only is £135 so an upgrade for £150 is unlikely I think. Maybe TT should offer a change from CP5 to TT3 for £25 for any disaffected users. Small changes to maps/patches etc should be free in my book as they are admissions of errors in current products. It works that way in every other software field. |

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer....the figure of £150 I quoted for CP5 upgrade was for the Pan-Europe version, which is what I am running. Existing CP4 owners with UK only maps were offered a discounted rate of approx £100 to upgrade.....but that's still 3 times the cost of a TomTom upgrade!

ouch! That is a concern if they repeat that for not so major upgrades in the future. Just imagine the marketing people at ALK
"gee guys lets price the upgrade at £100"
Spotty kid in corner "But thats the same price as TT3, why would customers pay for an upgrade for ours when they can buy a whole product from our rivals for that amount? "
