One of the things I tend not to do is to have it set to check for POIs on Route. Have you tried it without the on route option?
I stopped using the on route when it failed to alert me to POIs that were marked as being on the other side of the road when they were in fact on my side. _________________ Mike Barrett |

I have the same problem too. Running a 6600, all messages including POI alarms are stuttering and driving me bananas!
my tomtom is App version 4.400 (285)
gps driver v1.20
map: Great-britain-map v390
language English uk
Same as other chappie! Am very confused! Is there any other speed camera databases that are reliable as PGPSW ones, but dont stutter, that I can use until someone works out how to fix it? I like using it and it hasnt missed a beat so far, but as I say, the stuttered directions are nippin ma heed!
Cheers,
John |

I suspect the issue here is the size of the POI database file, i.e. the quantity of locations it contains. The limited processing power of the 6600 is being stretched.
Mike (who has a 6600) is going to run some tests and see what if anythingv we can do tp resolve the issue. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I think someone mentioned earlier the possibilty of splitting the POI file up? Like maybe into section like Scotland/England/Wales or something similar?
Cheers,

Quick update here just to let you all know that I havent forgotten you.
I have been running the latest POI databases on my 6600 for a week now and have not had any problems with slow down, or double messages.
I have put a request in to TomTom to get the released version of the software as I am running 4.3 so they may have introduced some features in between my version and the release. I am still waiting to get the software. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Hi,
I`ve been following this thread with interest,
I too am having exactly the same problems with my TTM on Nokia 6600
I have just ordered a 512MMc to see if that will solve it,
Otherwise I`m extremely pleased with it. |

upgrading your mmc card won`t make any difference
i was using a 521mmc and just upgraded to a 1GB
its nothing to do with ya card its down to the phone or the tomtom software version |

MAY have cure for ttm with speed cams, I am in the process of testing a cut down version of the three camera overlays, Northampton down to the IOW still gives some repeats, but most of the time all is ok.
Hopefully will get the overlays uploaded to the forum this weekend at the latest.
Fingers crossed... |

I hope this may be of use to others, but this is still only a test, but I have reduced the three overlay camera bases to go from Cambridge down to the South Coast, sorry for anyone north of Cambridge at the moment, I have asked if they can be posted on the forum, but if they cannot, anyone willing to try them is welcome to email me and I will send them by return. any ov2 file must also have its corresponding bmp put into the "Great-Britain-Map" directory and set to be used as before.
Please remember there may be mistakes, they may still stutter sometimes, and they don't go higher than Cambridge!
if anyone tries them I hope they are ok, BUT THEY MAY NOT BE PERFECT! :D |

The issue is down to the amount of memory TomTom utilises. An easy solution to this is to turn off the view of POI's on-screen. This makes map panning, zooming in and out extremely fast. You can still be alerted to Speed Cameras using the WARN option. |
