make sure the map directory ends with "...Navigator Map" . Rename if necessary.
If it still can't find the map, use a registry editor to help it.
\\HKCU\Software\TomTom\TomTom Navigator\Maps
The key LastMap needs to point either to the map name or the physical directory. _________________ Lutz

There have to be multiple files
For example
CLINE.DAT
CNAME.DAT
CNODE.DAT
FACES.DAT
MAPINFO.DAT
POI.DAT
SETUP.DAT
but also other files like (mapname).pna etc. If you open the map CAB file with WinZip then you see them all. _________________ Lutz

This seems to be a problem when TT is started by TT Wizard. It always (for me) reports no maps. I had to re-create the shortcut to the TT exe file to get it to work.
The TT Wizard has never worked for me. The traffic wizard works but it only a tutorial. |

I have literally just recieved and installed TomTom3 for my Hp H1930. I installed the full great britain map to my 512 SD CARD.
When I start up TomTom it tells me I need to install a map!
What the hell is going wrong here?

I've seen lots of stuff here about not using TT wizard to launch TomTom3, changing registry locations etc etc but I had the "no maps" problem with my clean install of TT3 and I opted for the simple solution, just move the map folder into the My Documents folder of the storage card.. |

Hi guys,
Just a note to say that I have been in touch with TomTom official support and have solved my problem...here is my complete communication log! >

I have just recieved and installed TomTom Navigator 3 UK. I installed the GB map (entire map) to a 512 SD CARD (Viking Interworks 512Mb) using a card reader (PQI).
I have verified that the files are on the card at the top level under a directory called "Great_Britain Navigator Map".
When I start up TomTom for the first time it tells me that I need to install a map and then quites back to the PDA menu screen.
This is a brand new PDA so I don't have much other software on it at the moment.
What do I do? |

Dear Mr Loram,
Format the card with the reader and then reinstall the full GB map again. Should the same problem exist again then delete the GB map and then install the smallest map (16mb) to the flash card and see if the problem is cured. If it is then tell us the country of manufacture of the SD card.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team |

Dear Mr Loram,
There is one more thing. Do you actually have an HP 1930?
All of the HP 19XX series of IPAQs to include the HP IPAQ 1940 do not have any type of in built serial port so these models will not work with ANY wired GPS receiver from any GPS manufacturer. The first model above the 19XX series that will work with a wired receiver is the HP IPAQ 2210. The HP 1940 can work with a bluetooth GPS only.
We hope to have answered your question to your satisfaction.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team |

I have a HP 1930 yes. It came as part of the Kirrio ViaMichelin GPS package. The wired GPS reciever plugs into the car cradle which itself plugs into the PDA via the bottom port...
This is the package I have >
http://www.kirrio.com/uk/products/viamichelin_gps_navigation_pack/index.php?cat=1&id=3
I found the ViaMichelin software lacking so I decided to purchase TomTom instead...
Are you suggesting that TomTom will not work with the H1930? Still, this shouldn't stop the maps from being found in the first place should it?
If so can I get a refund? |

I have just formatted my Viking 512 Mb SD CARD and installed the 16Mb map.
TomTom navigator now starts up ok and finds the map.
I will try putting the Full Great Britain map on again and see if it manages to find this map... |

I have installed the full Great Britain map on my Viking 512Mb SD CARD after formatting and now it works ok.
Thankyou.
I will now attempt to connect my PDA up to my car GPS kit and see if it works with TomTom...
Is there any particular thing I should try first to get it working with my wired GPS reciever? |

OK.
I have installed my PDA in my car cradle and change the GPS setting to "Serial on USB" and everything works perfectly.
TomTom Navigator 3 works with HP H1930 with wired GPS (through serial on USB)!
All problems are solved now. Thanks for the support.
Maybe you should add the HP H1930 to your list of compatible PDA's... |
THE END
:D
Everything works perfectly and I have CheckPOInt 3.2 installed and notifying me of speed cameras etc. Excellent. |

OK...
Great tip.
So you choose the "Serial on USB".... but what do you choose in the driver list above in TomTom GPS ? _________________ Gunnar Nystul, Forum Admin, TomTom Forum Norway and Nystul Navigasjon |
