|

Hi,
I have a DriveSmart 61 LMT and am having a nightmare with custom POIs....
I downloaded a list of European Aires in GPX format which I put on the device, they now appear in 'Custom POIs' 'My points'.
All good so far.
However, I'd downloaded the wrong list and now need to remove them, all 20,000 of them.
So there's no option to delete Custom POIs on the device.
POI Loader is unable to delete them, gives me a success message but the POIs are all still there.
Browsing the file system shows only preloaded GPI files and current.gpx.
Can anyone tell me where these have been stored and how I get rid of them? Even a factory reset left them all in place....
I suspect it's because I originally copied across a GPX by mistake instead of a GPI. I converted the correct list of POIs to GPI and I can add and remove ithem as I'd hoped. It's just the original list of Custom POIs that I can't delete.
Can anyone help? |

If you sent them as a gpx file check the GPX folder. If not there do a search for .gpx files. It'll be there somewhere.
If on a mac also check you've emptied the trash as otherwise they'll be hoovered up from there _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hi PKL,
to the forum!
First question is: Are you a Mac user? If so ensure that you have emptied the Trash basket.
When you connect your Garmin to your computer (Windows or Mac), you should look for .gpi files with names that you recognise in the following folder:
GARMIN/POI
First backup your Garmin and then try removing your own .gpi files that you created in the GARMIN/POI folder.
Reboot your Garmin and hopefully the POI categories will have gone and you can reload them.
caveat
I am still very much a Garmin newbie so don't do anything that you're uncomfortable with and always have a backup or three!
