At a guess because of their classification (B) and that they will be tagged as national Speed Limit, i.e 60.
I still use my Garmin but use Mapfactor on a tablet. That has the ability to choose which type of road to use and a speed limit for each type. I have customised it to stay away from unclassified etc. However, it does cause problems if your destination is on one of those types of road. |

Not sure what settings you're using or even what point you're really trying to make but on my Garmin DriveSmart it routes along the A438 and then the B4208, seems sensible to me
Note BaseCamp will route that way too if you select Avoid residential roads
Moral here is don't always assume your satnav will route the same way as BaseCamp. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I've changed the setting in BaseCamp and it does seems to provide better routes. Pity we can't do that direct on the sat nav (can we?). |

Not like you can in BaseCamp but as I indicated if you try the route on your device it should route along the A road.
You can also adjust the various speeds on different classes of roads in BaseCamp. This might help you get routes more to your liking. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
