Glad I've got my GPS enabled DashCam now Very Happy

I'm not convinced hand held speed checkers are 100% reliable in novice hands and this proves it.

I've now gotten into a routine to ensure that not only are my dashcams (front and rear) powered up (they are powered by socket) but that they also have GPS reception every time I start a journey. It is useful to have the GSP data as well as the video evidence before and after any potential incident.

I also like to record in 1080p and at the highest bitrate for the best video quality, so a 64GB card lasts about 9½ hours before it starts to be overwritten. I keep a number of cards in the vehicle. I replace the front card before it fills up - but let the rear card get overwritten unless there's some footage that I wish to keep.

I try to keep all data for at least six months. Fortunately the cost of large portable hard drives has reduced in the last few years and I'm not a road warrior so I don't drive an excessive amount each year.

Having said that, The article is about an insurer's black box and not a dashcam so I'm not sure how the video and GPS data from a dash cam would hold up in court, but it is probably your best hope of defense.

Regards,
