I have the Kenwood DNX-5280 and I cannot load POIs to it.
I haver the 5220 so am familiar with the usual hassles, but this is worse.
If I put the SD card in it just says "reading", and goes no further.
The same if I try and do it via USB.
If I delete the file from the card then it can read, play MP3s, display images and go through the directory as usual, but as soon as you load poi.gpi, ot poi.poi onto it the it just sticks.
Has anyone managed to load POI onto a 5280? |

Why do Kenwood have to make this so damn difficult? It seems that with every model there is a different issue and, given it's supposed to be running Garmin software, it should be a simple process.
On the other hand, are you using POILoader and if so, what version? I ask as the latest version has caused Garmin users a number of issues and wonder if yours may be related?
The previous stable version of POILoader, 2.61 seems to be problem free and we have it here if you want to give it a whirl. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have the same problem.
I have tried with older poi loader versions.
I have tried with other file and folder names.
I have tried with sd card and usb.
It always stays in reading... and go no further.
Any help? |

As Peter never replied, can you tell me what version of POI Loader you are using? _________________ Darren Griffin |

OK, an update on this that might help fellow users.
I spent a lot of time talking to Kenwood and the upshot of it was that you couldnt do it.
There has now been a new firmware release and you can now do it.
You have to have a USB stick with a file called garmin, and the poi file in that folder.
You insert the USB when the navigation is showing the "where to or view map" screen.
It will then update.
Finally! Nightmare over! |

Thanks Peter for updating us. Kenwood seem hell bent on making this far more complex than it needs be! _________________ Darren Griffin |
