|

I have a 540 never been happy with it since tomtom upgraded the navcore and messed up the traffic and live services and never fixed it. Been looked at getting replacement but don't like the sound of some of the new ones and want to use pgpsw cameras etc. Is the x50 module the best overall, for fast traffic startup and customisation etc? |

Is not "Best TomTom" a good oxymoron example |

It is certainly better than the latest models! But there's quite a row going on at present over the HD Traffic service - read and enjoy (the links are all to the latest page, so you need to go back to the start on them all)...

Not a lot though.
The fast route planning of the GO 10xx series must be worth a lot.
I can't think of any reason a x40 model is better. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

My Go940 has always been more stable than my Go950 and it has more features.
So I agree with technik!

What do you think is messed up?
What version of software are you on?
Wouldn't it be easier to just go back to an earlier version of software?
Got any backups? That's the easiest way. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

The 940 is still the best unit they have ever made in my opinion, stable and packed with more features and capability than anything else from the TomTom range and that includes the current product range.
As for issues with the HD Live services on your 540 Live, does the unit simply refuse to connect to the server even though you have a valid subscription to use it? If this is the case complain to TomTom and demand an extension to your subscription is added to your account so you get the duration of service you have payed for.
Next roll the device back to 9,054 or even earlier, I can give you specific links to the Navcore versions for your device if you want to try them. For some strange reason the 9,058 release seems to break the Live connection on some units - Mike |

I'm currently using a 550 after many years of using 500.
Certainly some of the features are welcome, lane assist etc.
If I had one grip it would be the time to calc routes which can be a bit slow sometimes. Battery life isn't great as well.
Other than that find the device good. |

My 540 has the problems most people sem to have takes 3-5 minutes for traffic to start and when it drops connection doesn't start again automatically.
I know if you use 8.3 it is better but prefer v9. I thought 9.054 live services didn't work at all, is there another v9 version that is better? |
