|
|
My new 3790 may go back if this carries on.
I have the speed cameras from here loaded up using POILoader. I go to Settings-Navigation-Car-(whatever is next) and it shows Garmin speed cameras - ticked - and Custom POI - not ticked.
I change it to untick the garmin and tick the Custom one and press "Save".
If I then go back into that screen, the Garmin one is again ticked and the Custom one unticked. It looks like "Save" has no effect.
Can someone else with a 3790T try this please?

I haven't even got custom POI's!
I'm going to return it. It's no good if it doesn't show the cameras on it. |

It won't have any until you load some in using POILoader |

From the GPS Passion site:
Quote: | I have the default Garmin speed cameras and a user defined camera file installed.
I have also seen this erratic behaviour when I try to activate the custome one. As I check it and try to save, it un-checks itself just before switching back to the previous menu.
I found this solution:
Un-check both Garmin and your own camera file. Press save.
Next check only the Garmin file, leaving your own un-checked. Press save.
Now enter the sub menu again and look at the activated files, in my unit both are suddenly checked! I have tried to drive past one of the user defined cameras and it gives a warning, so it works.
I hope it works for you too, but the software ought be fixed.

I am fully aware of that!
I downloaded & installed them using POILoader & it still didn't work, now I'm back from work, I'm going to give Handtec a call & get them to give me a RMA number for it to go back.
I'd quite like to have £250 back in my bank account. |

Don't understand this as I have custom POIs displaying on my map as well as this sites Speed Cameras. The only issue I have is the Red Light cameras but all alerts seem to work fine for me.
It's true that the 3790 has a higher "zoomed out" display but once in town / city centre I get many different POIs showing.
This screenshot shows a few custom POIs

The issue I have witth this is that the speed cameras don't show up until you are almost on them - probably because it is zoomed out too far to show them.
Which is a shame because on a vertical display, the road is showing for miles ahead. Tom Tom does it OK....

I've found this little workaround here:
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/29936
If you read down a few lines you'll find this solution to the cameras.
DorkusNimrod wrote: | Yes, red light camera POIs work just fine as long as you disable the pre-installed Cyclops safety camera file (just rename the file to something else to disable it) which seems to override any other POI file(s) installed. This is a known bug in the unit and there are work-arounds until Garmin fixes it. |
Don't know if someone wants to give it a try? |
