|

Hello,
I have a XL Live IQ routes TomTom and my Dad has just bought exactly the same model.
I have made map corrections on my satnav and wondered if there was a way I can transfer this to my Dad's satnav? Is there a file I can copy and paste to his map?
Thank you in advance for your help! |

There is... but it's not straightforward.
Your changes seem to be stored in a file in the root directory called UserPatch.dat.
But there is another file in the map directory called MapUserPatch.dat which refers back to UserPatch.dat which actually contains the details of the changes.
If you delete either file they recreate themselves but if you do not have a matching pair you seem to lose the changes.
I have not copied them across devices but I have removed the root directory file which removed all my changes. When I restored it, my changes were not visible again until I also restored the map directory file.
Also, there may well be keys and references in those files to something specific about YOUR map.
So I suspect you MIGHT end up in all sorts of difficulties if you try copying them across. If you decide to experiment, make sure you have full (Windows Explorer-created) backups of both machines before you do any tinkering.
------------------------------------------
BUT......
Having said all that, if you have got the settings on YOUR machine to share all corrections, and you have your Dad's machines settings to accept ALL corrections, then if MapShare is doing what it says it should, then your corrections would be sent to his machine anyway, next time he connects to Home and does an update. |

Hello,
Thank you for your reply, the only thing that worries me if I put his satnav to accept all corrections some random incorrect ones may go on there.
I will try copying those files across to see what happens and of course backup first! |
