Hello,
Can anyone let me know if there is a GPS module with an SD card interface (rather than CF) for Pocket PC's?
Thanks |

There is - but they're regarded as of limited value.
Usually people that want an SDIO GPS want one because they haven't a CompactFlash slot - but if you use your only slot that can take memory cards for an SDIO GPS, you've got nowhere to store your maps.

That's the point, I don't need maps on the device and I need a the smallest setup possible.
Can you indicate some reference to order online? |

Frustratingly, I can only find the SDIO GPS available for sale with Pharos software bundled. I think there's only one hardware design at the moment (by Matsushita), but I could be wrong on that.
Maybe you'll have more luck that I did using Google.

... tried that already... seems like Matsushita as anounced it but cannot find any available for ordering (except one from Japan http://www.iodata.jp/prod/multimedia/gps/2003/sdgps/ but I can get the english version of their site...)
Thanks for your help. |

I just bought the Pharos SDIO without the software, got it this morning as a matter of fact. Just do a google search for "rec30" and you'll see a variety of online stores that carry it.
I prefer to have my maps and programs on compact flash, SD has no where near the storage capacity. Of course, that's only an option for those of us who have both CF and SD in our handhelds. |
