Just put the new v5 on my BB 8900. First impressions are that the screens/menus looks much sharper. Not had chance to navigate yet as sitting in an office.
One downer - I had a bunch of saved locations on 4.5 that no longer exist on v5. I can recreate them, but if I was a paying customer I would be rather annoyed that they hadn't been moved across to v5. |

Typical bloke - I went ahead and played without reading the email that clearly states the saved locations will be lost and that it is being worked on.

Yes - we do apologize for that.
For what it's worth - in a commercial release with a proper upgrade path we would make efforts to migrate favorites to the new version.
We do have to remember that as a User Group you are using Beta versions where not everything is perfect.
Thanks for your eternal patience :-). |

Having had chance to now use v5 a few comments/questions. I'm on BB8900 on BES
General comment: Telmap v5 is by far the best satnav I've tried for the Blackberry.
The good:
1) Search has worked perfectly for me every time so far.
2) The navigation has worked well, directing me in one case to a restaurant in the middle of the Nottinghamshire countryside. The roads I was being taken down were getting smaller and smaller and I had the feeling I was going to end up in a farm yard but it was a good shortcut.
3) The speed camera notifications were good. Plenty of notice of upcoming camera locations.
4) Traffic checking worked and alternative route proposed
5) Time and distance remaining can be kept on the screen in v5 removing the danger of needing to roll the trackball as in v4.5
6) The advert 'pop-up' looks to work, although I assume at some stage that would be location driven.
7) Searching using the widgets for local petrol stations etc is good.
8) Adding to 'My Places' from the map is easy to do.
The bad:
1) Although an alternate route was suggested when traffic was found ahead it was presented at a very high level on a map telling you the estimated journey time. It gave no comparison to the current route to tell you how much the diversion would cost you. To zoom in on the map would be dangerous while driving, so the map is fairly redundant. Why not have a setting that just says "automatically re-route in case of traffic"?
2) As you drive along it tells you that traffic information has been updated and it adjusts your expected arrival time. What it doesn't do is tell you what the time was before so you don't know if the traffic is getting better or worse.
3) The speaking of road names just gets annoying. Although I think it is the same voice used the quality and volume of the street names is much worse than the instructions (due to compression because os the number of them?)
4) Help doesn't work for me. It tries to use the browser but I get an error "Unknown host ${help.param.server}:80". Did someone forget to set a variable?
5) The text at the bottom of the screen for time/distance to go is small and difficult to read in some light conditions. It looks like there is space to make it bigger and keep it within the boxes.
The requests
1) Can you explain what the option to avoid 'green line areas' is? Is this like congestion charge areas in London?
2) It would be good to have notification of current speed limits on the display at the bottom with time and distance. Speed warnings would be even better.
3) Are there shortcut keys for the widgets? I can't get at help to look there. Using the widgets while driving is just too dangerous in current form.
I'll post all this in the feedback form as well just to be thorough.
EDIT: Actually I wont use the feedback form as it asks for one item at a time. Far too much hassle. |

i would also like to know what the "Avoid Green Lines" option is.
I had posted this question last week, but nobody answered.
Traffic does also not seem to be available in my area. I wish I could test that out as well. |

Another request rather than a bug (and this may have been mentioned before). Can we get current speed limit on the screen? This would complement the speed camera warnings for safety.
EDIT: It has been mentioned before, by me above Clearly it's something I think we need to see. |

Hi Syborg,
Thank you for your detailed feedback.
This is really great and all goes straight to our product department for consideration.
Sorry about the broken "Help" link. Help is indeed web based - but we don't have it up yet.
Feel free to contact us directly with any specific questions - or post here.
Regarding Green Line - please ignore this setting. It refers to something local that is relevant only here in Israel where we are based.
It will have no effect on your navigation whether it is on or off.
Thanks

Do you have the Help information in another format at the moment? PDF, Word doc or anything? I think it would be more valuable to you for our testing to be guided based on knowing what the functionality should be in the application.
Example - there is a night mode that can be toggled by pressing '6'. That's very useful but what else might there be...... |

We will soon be releaseing a Quick Start Guide to the TUG.
It's not comprehensive help but will give some information.
More detailed help screens will come later - but I can't give you a commited timeline for that.
Thanks for your patience |
