I have speed cameras installed on my Tom Tom 510 from about 3 years ago which haven't been updated. Do I have to try & un-install them before installing newer cameras or would the updated ones overwrite the existing files?
Would appreciate anyones help!
Thank you, Lester |

Which camera database are you thinking of using the one offered by this site or a new purchase from TomTom? For UK use I wouldn't bother with the TT data as its so out of date but the choice is yours.
As a recent example on Wednesday I had camera alerts from the TomTom database at the M55/ M6 junction, these cameras were removed seven months ago, also M62 was a joke, the M18 and M180 were also way out of wack with reality and this is the so called Premium database! - if you want to pay for crap go ahead and resubscribe to the TomTom cameras - Mike |

Thanks for your reply Mike, I've subscribed to this site & it's camera sites from this site that are on it from years ago that I want to update, but I was just wondering if I should delete what is on it already first?
Tom Tom themselves do seem to have some odd ideas about the format of their speed cameras as well don't they!
Thanks, Lester |

If you are talking about the PocketGPS World camera data, then if you download the same version/type of files then they will overwrite the old ones, but if you download a different version it won't.
The different versions WERE:
Single file with all cameras
"Consolidated by type" - all the cameras but split up into fixed, mobile, redlight etc.
"Speed zoned" - all the cameras but split up int o camera types as above AND further split up into the various speed limits.
The Single file version has now been discontinued.
If you can't remember what you used before, the simplest answer may be to just delete any files with names beginning "PocketGPS..." in your UK map folder and start afresh with a new download of the version you prefer.
I would suggest the "speed zoned" version. It takes a bit longer to set up all the alerts, but gives you the best warnings. |

It has been too long for me to remember which version was downloaded originally, so I will do as you suggested & delete the files starting with 'PocketGPS...'
Thank you so much for your help.
