I am having great difficulty in upgrading my 520 from 8.010 to 8.351 . Towards the end of the process the 520 needs to reboot to the new software but it just endlessly reboots over and over . Using "Operate" from Home does indicate the navcore has updated. Following the usual advice I kept a complete copy under 8.010 . The first time the upgrade failed I managed to copy back 8.010 sucessfully. However the copy back after the second upgrade failure has caused its own problems . At least 2 files on the 520 are now corrupt ( info.plist & kateGuilded.160000.loqmsx.bin ) - neither can be copied as backup , deleted or overwritten - I can rename them . Attempting to open them with say Notepad gives "serious disc error" or "file cannot be opened"
I have redownloaded Kate & luckily the 520 still works .
Any advice ?
Thanks |

Hopefully your backup was made with Explorer, not Home, and you still have it.
If so, just reformat the 520's internal storage and restore the entire backup again. _________________ David |

Use Windows Explorer to view the contents of the UK&ROI map folder, locate the MapSettings.cfg file and copy it to your PC before deleting this file from the device, re-boot the unit and it should start up without looping - Mike |

Thanks - reformated and re-installed and now back to the older 8.010 without the corrupt files.
I will give the Navcore upgrade one more go

As Mike said, it will be the mapsettings.cfg file.
If the same happens again try the following:
Use Operate My GO through HOME and add a random position as a favourite. This will rewrite the mapsettings.cfg file and hopefully all will be well.
If that doesn't work then just delete the file and reboot. You will lose all your favourites etc but at least the upgrade will have worked. |

Thanks Forum - I have successfully upgraded to 8.351. Next step is to buy a new map ....
