FindWhere and Google Latitude Compared
Friend Finding Is a Nice-to-Have; Security and Mobility Services Are a Need-to-Have
POTOMAC FALLS, VA--(Marketwire - March 17, 2009) - FindWhere's GPS tracking solutions give people and businesses the security and peace of mind knowing the exact location of any person. That's one of the advantages over Google's new friend finder program; "Latitude." FindWhere Mobile tracks loved ones, employees and friends, precisely and more accurately by providing a web based GPS tracking and position sharing service that uses state of the art GPS devices and GPS-enabled mobile phones to provide the highest level of security.
In addition to offering FindWhere Mobile tracking services, FindWhere provides advanced Enterprise level integrated tracking solutions for the purpose of tracking companies' valuable equipment and/or managing their assets.
Google's Latitude is used mainly as a buddy finding service using Google maps to locate family and friends. People being searched on Latitude can hide from specific people, or remove their location from being seen altogether. The Individual being tracked has complete control over their privacy with Google's program; they can manually set a specific location to be somewhere that they are actually not.
"Latitude is focused to target people that are trying to locate friends and family for location and meeting places. Latitude doesn't have all the features and accuracy as FindWhere's rich GPS services on Mobile Phones, that's our biggest competitive advantage at this time," says FindWhere CEO Jaap Groot.
FindWhere Mobile is controlled by the subscriber and is able to use maps to set up perimeters that you don't want your mobile device to enter or leave, allowing you to receive instant notification when the device goes beyond the desired perimeter. You are able to view the current location of the phone(s) in your account and see where the phones on your account have been, along with the ability to set up speed alerts to be notified when the desired GPS tracking device or GPS-enabled mobile phone exceeds your specified limit. Latitude has a difficulty with the service not updating frequently enough to be useful in near real-time and lacks the preciseness for safety and security. Latitude's capabilities cannot replace FindWhere's tracking system that will track and record time-carding, facilitate optimal panic response, provide geo-fencing and other high-end premium features.
FindWhere's Mobile requires a monthly enrollment plan starting at $19.95/mo with no activation fee. Google's Latitude requires you to sign up for the service online with no charge, letting mobile phone users share their location by sending invitations or accepting them with close contacts.
"We're glad that free services like Latitude are made available such that our current and potential users can experience the difference. Over the last two years many new companies and GSM operators were introducing add driven business models rather unsuccessfully. With the entry of Google we're sure the market will start to accept tracking as a generic function on a mobile phone and our unique differentiation will immediately be clear.
"What Google has created is a unique tool for networking with friends, but it is in no position to compete against FindWhere's GPS tracking technology. FindWhere transforms a cell phone into an easy-to-use GPS tracking device, enabling partners and enterprises to provide safety and security in the palm of their end users hands," says Jaap Groot.
