Went to TT Website. Selected "Tom Tom Map update Service" followed by "Get a personal quote for your map with Tom Tom Home".
Took me through bringing up TTHome and connecting my device then offered me an update to existing map at 85% off plus Map Update Service for total of £49-75
Paid it and the download started.
.
Then realised there was insufficient room on Internal Memory for the new map! It requires 1990Mbs and I only had 1880Mbs available.
In the event it didn't matter as 12 minutes from the end the server bombed out telling me to try again later and select "Update my Go".
.
Restarted TTHome selecting my SD card this time (8Gbs) and the download automatically resumed from where it had bombed out.
Download duly finished and installed with no problems.
The download took 1hour 30 mins.
Two points - make sure you have sufficient room for the map on your device and I'd suggest downloading later at night when (hopefully) the TT server won't be so busy.
Oh yes - new map version is v815.2003

You should have received 8.15 free under the latest map guarantee as the unit would have come with 8.10.1934 on it. the LMG would have given you map updates to 8.15 for both Europe and America which were released only around a week after the launch of the 940.
You can download one updated set of maps free (that both Eur & USA for the 940) within 30 days of first connecting the device. If another set comes out within 30 days and you have already downloaded the previous set then you cannot get the second set.
As you purchased a set rather than using the LMG, it would have looked how old the maps are and give you a large discount on buying the latest as 8.10 were nearly new.
You would then get the map update service for Western & Central Europe for £39.90 per year once you were on the latest maps. The best time to take out the service is just before your existing map becomes out of date, which I think just before three months from the release of the last set. It would be nice to have an early warning system on the next release.
You would have had sufficient room on your device for the latest maps as once downloaded, Home would delete the old maps on your device and the new maps will be very similar in size. _________________ Drivelux |
