|
|
Whenever i try to update my TT720 via the latest version of TomTom Home, although it offers updates to Quickfix and mapshare items, it does not offer to update to Navcore 8.0010
I am currently on previous version, which from memory i think is 7.481
Is there anything i need to be doing to get it?
Cheers

The way I got my 720 to update to v8.010 was to go via HOME and delete the application from the SD card and then disconnect, reconnect and get it to do an update, that worked for me.
But do remember to do a backup before you do anything.
Good Luck. |

I think you need to be absolutely certain of the version that is currently on your TT720. From memory, it could only be upgraded to v8.010 if it was already at the previous latest version. v7.481 should be the right one, but it may help if you could double check this.
And of course, check it on the TT itself. not via TTHome which is known to misreport version numbers! |

The only items on the SD card are i think a couple of small files which might be related to logo's
The version on the TT720 is 7.481 (seen from the TT itself, not via Home) which i upgraded to back in May.
This was offered as an upgrade from 7.221 but it is now not offering me the upgrade to v8 |

Which application should be removed from the SD card?
The SD card is optional on the 720. _________________ TT720 V8.010, regular audio book user.

I guess he was using an SD to boot from for some reason, but the principle is the same.
From whichever location you are getting the TT to boot from, remove all the LOOSE files, i.e. the ones that are not in any folders (leave the folders alone). This will force Home to re-install from the version it has cached on your PC.
If you think THAT mat be corrupt, remove it from Home's 'downloads' folder, and that will force Home to re-download it. |

thanks Andy.
It makes sense to me now
Obviously this is fairly drastic, and requires complete trust in the Home application...
So take a backup

You're wise to be cautious!
Backup with Win. Explorer
And we can always get you going with a manual install of the files from a slightly older software version if Home did mess up. |
