|

I have a Nuvi 760 and a Nokia 6288. Both work fine together except there seems to be a bug with the Phone Home option on the Nuvi. Using it causes the Phone to dial a number but miss the last digit. i.e. if the number is stored in the Nuvi as 0123456789 it dials 012345678.... Using the Voice Dial function to phone the number in my phone works OK, presumably because it's getting the number from my phone. Interestingly if i re-enter the number in the Nuvi it works fine, until the Nuvi is switched off and on subsequent start ups the problem returns.
Also occasionally the Nuvi displays an annoying full screen message saying "Phone Disconnected". Does anyone know what this means?
Am i the only one to get these problems?
Edit: Mobile Model Wrong...

No, I'm having the same problem as well. I now ignore the phone disconnected message, as it is obviously telling porkies, but I have no answer for the phone home problem.
Just hope that Garmin are aware of the problem and bring out a bug fix in the next software update. |

Problem is the Phone Disconnect problem causes a full screen alert which you have to OK to remove. Pain when it happens approaching a junction.
Garmin do know about it but don't seem to have done anything about it. |

Garmin responds.....
Seems my Nokia 6288 isn't supported (but the almost exactly the same Nokia 6280 is)
Anyway Garmin support have admitted that
Quote: | The problem you have is that the Nuvi is not communicating the
last digit to the phone and as such the phone is not dialling as you
expect it to. |
Which is pretty much what I've been telling them for weeks. Anyway they suggested trying a compatible phone, so i did. A Nokia 6230 - which is on their compatible list. Connected it by Bluetooth, re-entered my Home Phone Number in the Nuvi and tried the Phone Home option. It works! But then again it did with the 6288 until you restart the Nuvi, so i restarted the Nuvi and now (with a compatible phone) it still fails to pass the last digit to the phone!
Sigh! I wish they'd just look at the problem instead of just making up excuses not to look into it....
Next Sat Nav will NOT be a Garmin.... |

Regarding the Missing Last Digit problem, this morning Garmin wanted me to return the unit as it worked with the Support persons Sony Erricson. I asked them to double check a few things and have just got this response.
Quote: | I have now heard back from our engineers in the US and they confirm this is a problem. They tell me a fix will be released in early September 2008.
There is nothing further I can do to help you fix this problem.
I am sorry this has taken so long to get an answer. Please keep an eye
out for the software update in September and hopefully this will fix the
problem. |
