Hi
I'm new to this site and have downloaded the UK speed camera CSV file. On my way to work, my Garmin 770 tells me about loads of mobile cameras on the motorway that aren't there. I assume that they were there a few years back when the stretch of motorway was being upgraded. Who looks after this database? Who do I tell? A couple I've managed to locate is Mobile 23233 and Mobile 18938. I can report more once I know who to tell.
Thanks

By their very nature Mobile cameras are not always there!!
Mobile cameras are the vans that appear every now and then so it's not unusual for you NOT to see them. In fact you are more likely not to see them than see them.
The database is looked after by a staff member here and there are a number of Verifiers who also help keep the database accurate. Mobile sites are notoriously difficult to verify but they are verified. Excellent write up on the work of the Verifiers here
The category of camera which you refer to as "that they were there a few years back when the stretch of motorway was being upgraded." would be TEMP cameras.
You can report any missing / non-existent camera on this page |

Thanks for that. I have submitted deletions on the page you suggest. However they were all down as Mobile, rather than TEMP. There is no way they could be mobile as some are in the main carriageway, rather than on bridges. Maybe the original submission was in error.
Anyway I've submitted them, so we'll see what happens.
Great job. Many thanks for a wonderful service.

Mobile 23233 is right near a bridge.
Mobile 18938 is also right near a bridge.
They are placed NEAR a bridge for a very good reason. If they were placed ON the bridge then anyone travelling OVER the bridge across the motorway would be alerted to a 70 mph Mobile unit that wasn't targeting them. Therefore the markers are placed on the carriageway covered by the Mobile unit right near the bridge to stop false alerts.
Your submissions will of course be verified but i suspect they will be rejected. We don't just take MOBILE (or in fact any) submission on the say so of one person. We need multiple submissions to verify the unit.

I did understand that. I was just pointing out that if the cameras were from roadworks,as you originally thought, then they would be in the TEMP category not MOBILE. |
