Is the plug a decent tight fit in to the ciggy socket, if the plug rattles around then the device will auto power off, you can stop this behaviour by going to Change Preferences/ Battery saving preferences, leave the first screen set to whatever, but the screen that says "Switch off when external power is lost" de-select the check box.
This will prevent the device from switching off, but it is no substitute for a correctly mated power adaptor - Mike |

Thankyou, I have just taken a look, but the box already is deselected,(no tick there)
Also the fitting doesnt appear lose, but maybe I am catching the wire or something |

If you are sure that you have done what Mike has suggested then maybe you should take it back for a replacement. Have you made sure the battery was fully charged. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

I am not sure what it could be then. Try a hard reset and if no better i think you might need to send it back. _________________ NEW Tomtom GO 500 (hope it is good)

Just to update the post, I took the tomtom back to Halfords,
I told them that I had tried it in different vechicles etc.
Halfords said that normally they have to be sent back for repair as the 28 day thing does not count on pcs or sat navs due to personel data having been entered, but I told them I wasnt leaving without a new one and when the guy rang tomtom he said he had tried it in the shop, in veichle and eventually tomtom authorised a exchange . So hopefully this will be ok, I would like to thank the people who gave me advice, as without it, i am sure I would of come home without a tomtom, and I would of had to wait for that to be sent away, so thanks. |
