You need to install the latest USB drivers first -
Version 2.2.1 is here
Then plug it in... |

It contains the drivers for both XP and Vista.
Quote: | Notes:
This setup will install / pre-load all Garmin USB Drivers on your system and upgrade older versions if found.
These drivers are designed for use with those GPS units that support USB transfer of data to/from the PC - not to include the iQue. This setup also includes the drivers for the USB Data Card Programmer.
This setup combines the initial install and updates for both the USB GPS drivers and the USB Data Card Programmer drivers.
Supports Windows XP 64-bit and Vista 64-bit.

If you download and run it i'll install the relevant drivers to your computer (XP or Vista) then when you plug in it'll have the required drivers.
If it asks where they are they usually goto C:\Garmin... |

Sorry for the late reply but I haven't had the internet for a while, this didn't work as it doesn't discover the sat nav which it needs to do to complete the install. On the sat nav it shows its connected but the computer won't register that it is. |

Check your settings in Device Manager.
You may have an Unknown Device in there if you connected your GPS without installing the correct drivers first
Delete this and retry. It may be safer to re-boot before you reconnect the GPS. If you have installed the correct drivers they should be found this time. _________________ Phil |

The drivers mentioned earlier in the thread are for use in 'Garmin USB GPS' mode - I don't believe they are needed for Mass-storage-mode (where it appears as a simple disk drive).
However, are the USB ports working with any other devices? It may be Vista drivers for the USB controllers that you're lacking.
(You can get a C510 into the aforementioned mode, but it is an undocumented procedure) |

It still doesn't work! I'm so confusled!
The drives are working fine for all other devices. Its very odd. I can't find any evidence of it being plugged in on the computer but on the GPS it shows that I have it plugged in. |
