and because the seller said (In enquired before buying it) that Trumpion have signed a contract with Route 66, once it was activated, this evening, and not know anything about this stuff I assumed it might need updating like lots of things do and wanted to do this before wrapping it up for Xmas for a friend.
getactivationkey.com had just acknowledged the key sent to me, so I answered that and asked if it needed updating and as I couln't see Trumpion on its list of 'products', whether they could tell me which updates applied.
Once I'd got the key (earlier this evening) it was finding GPS. Shortly after replying to getkeyactivation.com's acknowedgement of the activation of that number and asking were there any updates needed, it now no longer finds GPS thought media type files are working, but I knew he wanted a GPS for travelling.
I'm kind of panicking cos it was expensive for me, and I cant afford to buy any other Christmas present and don't know what to do.
This is the item I bought and it was over £100 which is really a lot for me and it was for a person who's been really good support for me though some very bad times, but if I can't get it exchanged and if its not legal and has been deactivated after I wrote to getkeyactivation.com then its going to be one bad Christmas as I'd spent all I had to try to repay him for all he's done for me.
Here's the trumpion I bought (or the one currently on the market, but exactly the same model):
I don't know ANYTHING about it, but if Route 66 has deactivated the key, is it possible to at least buy software to take its place? And if so is there any cheap enough to try to get it and make it all right before Xmas, or is my money just gone cos I couldn't afford to buy another one.
Do they take 'other' software or would deactivation make the whole thing defunctional even if other software were purchase?
Its kept me awake so far tonight worrying about it being screwed up, and I'd be so grateful is somone could give me some advice. Even if its bad news.

Take the device outside with a clean line of sight to the sky switch it on and wait, it could take 30 mins for it to achieve a GPS position fix for the first time(effectively this is the first time as you have updated it) I very much doubt it has been de-activated, as this is not really possible without manual intervention - Mike
