I see that TT have now launched the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver in England.

http://www.tomtom.com/news/category.php?ID=4&NID=422&Lid=1

So precisely what the Welsh, Scots & Irish folk are meant to do! Wink Laughing

The $64,000 question is will it work this time????

A: Probably not knowing TT.

Nice of them to tell us Confused

The new receiver is a great deal better than the last one. Not perfect but a lot lot better.

Please can someone help me as this has got me confused!

I got my 720T yesterday. I spent some time yesterday reading about the 720T, and saw something about these receivers being replaced.

I mentioned this to the supplier who assured me the receiver would be the latest one.

The reciever has a product code on it: 4v00.013

Please can someone confirm this is indeed the latest one (and therefore potentially useable!).

Thanks in advance

Will this add-on ever appear in the UK?

Ever since the introduction of the GO 720, you accessories page has shown the Bluetooth Remote Control as "Temporarily Unavailable". As far as I can tell, it has never yet been available.
When will it become available please??
AND if you look on the Amazon page you've linked to, the first review includes this ...

By Nigel Heather (West Sussex, UK)

Having owned a TomTom 700 for some time a few months ago I bought a TomTom 720. I realised that TomTom had downgraded the product so that the remote control was no longer included but wasn't put off because the price is now a lot lower and the remote is available seperately. I was intrigued to see if my old remote would work but no, TomTom have changed the way it works. So I went ahead and ordered a TomTom remote. I ordered on the 1st Sept with a delivery estimate of 2 to 4 weeks. That came and went and I got an email from Amazon saying it was delayed and would be with me at the end of October. I have just received another email from Amazon saying that it is delayed again - this time to April 2008.
I suppose the "moves afoot in this area" are that having provoked a rival bid for Teleatlas, Tom Tom are now concentrating on a buyout of Bluetooth. Evil or Very Mad

This is the latest device and does work considerably better than prevous iterations.
Keep the wire aerial lead at least 5CM away from the ''A'' pillars of the car for best results. Some users have found running the aerial across the lower edge of the screen works, others (myself included) run the aerial from the top left corner of the screen (maintaining the 5CM clearance) straight down into the corner before going across the dash to the device - Mike

The RDS-TMC receiver can only be used on the XL and Third Edition models in the TomTom One range, all x10 and x20 products support its use.

It receives traffic information which is then displayed on screen or you can set the device to re-route around delays above a certain duration, which TomTom One device have you got? - Mike

Have bought V2 of the traffic receiver, awaiting delivery. Is this just a case of plugging it in to the 720 and away it goes? Or does some setting have to be enabled in preferences?
Thanks
Doug

Plug'n'go. The 720 will automatically detect its presence. All you may need to do is choose some preferences under the Traffic Menu.

The only fee involved in using the TMC receiver is the purchase price. A lifetime licence fee is included in that cost and the device isn't country dependent, either, so it will work where there is TMC data available to it. A GPRS Traffic supscription is country-dependent.

Mine worked in France as well as in the UK. I believe that the US has a different version, though, and the EU one won't work there and vice versa.
