Am I missing something? Nuvi and Zumo seem to be very similar units but the Zumo is routable.
Is there any reason hardware wise why Garmin could not let the Nuvi run the same sort of software as the Zumo to make it routeable so as to allow caravanners and truckers etc to download and upload routes suitable for the driven vehicle ? |

If the Nuvi's internal hardware is similar to the Zumo's and could be loaded with routeable software surely Garmin are missing out on a marketing coup.
Sat Nav has had some criticism from some numpties re routing through villages and unmade roads and here there are many questions from users with specific needs such aa Truckers and Caravanners.
We also have the "green" issues of the day, specific routes to avoid traffic bottlenecks and rush hour holdups could easily be over come with a simple routeable option. Distances travelled and time sat in traffic reduced by a slightly "smarter" sat nav.
An option to pay for an optional routeable software download to upgrade the Nuvi to make it more user and vehicle friendly has surely got to be a winner financialy for Garmin.
The Nuvi range has the slim user friendly casing and great mapping and other features for travellers.
Would making it routeable not be the icing on the cake and provide a huge sales boost to Garmin and give users the real navigation edge that many need. |

Problem is Garmin seem to be able to sell plenty of Nuvis without adding the feature... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
