Just received an e-mail from Garmin advising ver 3.3 has been released.
Not willing to be a guinea pig, so will wait a while before I upgrade.
Too many bad experiences in the past with supposed updates.

Here are the changes that are listed in the Garmin site.

Changes made from version 3.20 to 3.30:

Added support for US Daylight Saving Time change
Added support for Brazilian Portugues voice language
Set default country and state/region using current position for address searches
Corrected address searching in some European cities using City Navigator NT version 9
Corrected some display issues for third party (MPC) maps

But does it work, and no mention of fixes for the freezing problems on version 3.20.

Who is going to try Question

Oh dear...

Just for info - my problems with all the post-2.7 firmwares have been white screens, slow map updates in Map Mode and erratic behaviour in Map Mode. All seems to be well when actually Navigating. I believe this is a problem experienced by more than a few people here too)

Only tested 3.30 in Map Mode...

Just 2 miles down the road and the i3 shows me still at a previous junction. The road names at the top of the screen and the speed a correct but I'm 0.5 mile ahead of where it shows me. Eventually it caught up and then i came to a fork in the road. It took the right and i3 went left.... for quite a way. Then caught up.

Got a few more runs to do today so I'll test again but seems the same old crappy Map Mode bugs exist. Can't be bothered to e-mail Garmin because they'll tell me

a) to reset the i3
b) reload the firmware
c) to reset the i3 and reload the firmware
d) its down to poor signal
e) they have no knowledge of the problem previous to my e-mail

In response to the above

a) doesn't work
b) doesn't work
c) doesn't work
d) No it's not. Signal is fine and if it was the signal why does the 2.7 firmware not do this? Especially on the same routes? And why are the speed and road names shown correctly?
e) Yes they do because i (and i believe others) have told them of this before.

White screen, freeze, white screen, missing turns, and now travelling along at 45 degrees to my direction of travel.

Back to 2.7......

i wonder how well the firmware works on the newer units (internal memory) and if they are concentrating on these devices and forgetting about us long-timers?!

My unit has V8 maps internal and V9 on Transflash. So far on 100 miles worth of travelling I'm not seeing any problems, although on same unit 3.2 was OK too.

trevf - are those NAVIGATED miles or just passive MAP mode miles? Problems only seems to exist in MAP Mode. Navigating doesn't seem to have a problem.

Have been using 3.3 for a couple of days, same route being navigated gives no problems, leave in map only and oh dear, jams and delays - roads just ending - not worth the fuss :-( Back to 2.70 when I can find the flipping thing as the version i had on my pc corrupted when i tried Vista (and removed it not long after!)

Thinking of moving more permanently to smart2go as my mobile (an MDA Vario) is close to tomtom and free for map mode, though you pay for navigation...

Passive map all the way (probably one of teh only routes I can do without directions (I suck at navigating).
