My Brother has had his Tomtom one V2 with europe maps stolen but has backed up his card.
Can his maps be loaded on to my card & used in my Tomtom which is a Tomtom V1. |

I thought so.
The thing is that I don't use my Tomtom much but he uses his everyday. |

NOT TRUE!
V2 Euro uses Navteq mapping. One V1 uses Teleatlas.
Apart from the activation issue; when you put the SD card in it would say NO MAPS FOUND. |

I say just go ahead and try it. You will be asked for an activation code, but if it has been more than 6 months since the last activation, then ttcode.com should give it to you.
As to the question of whether Navteq or Teleatlas made the maps, are you sure about this, Binman? I believe they work on all units. It's not like they are in different formats. I own the latest Europe and North American maps, and they both work on my TT ONE v1. |

Navteq maps as only supplied on the V2 Euro & Rider do NOT work in any other model as the software is different and you will get the NO MAPS FOUND if you try them in a V1, Classic, 300, 500, 510 or 710 and I'm pretty damn sure the same if you tried to load them onto a 700 or 910. |

You can run the NT or TA maps on the devices, but you need the all important activation code to get it working - the application is seperate to the map data - Mike |

I may be wrong then (I suppose it was inevitable eventually) but neither a V2 Euro SD card nor a Rider GB SD card both at v6.520 will run in a V1, Classic or 300 & all give the same No Maps Found display.
It never gets as far as asking for activation. |
