Can anyone tell me where I can get TomTom Rider from in the UK? The official TomTom online store says it's £250, but the only place I can find it so far is a pre-order of £390
A few people have it on eBay for £280ish...
Anyone know where it can be bought for £250 or less? _________________ TomTom 6 - SPV M5000 and WM6

Typical, just after posting, I find this one for £240.
So, my next question is, who has this, would they recommend it? I have TT5 on my PDA, how does it compare?
Thanks _________________ TomTom 6 - SPV M5000 and WM6

Both of the links you have given seem to be for the same version of TT Rider as they both only have the UK maps. The site offering it for £240 seem to have it in stock and also have the Western European maps upon an SD card available for another £99.95. Another posting a few days ago was asking the same question about where to get one from see if you can find it and have a look. |

You should have a look at the Garmin Zumo too. |

The recent posts on this topic were prompted by me.
The cheapest I found was from mynewcheap.com and it cost me £275!
However it did arrive very quickly, without a 'goods despatched' email.
As a newbie to GPS, I'm impressed with the Rider. Easy to get started and use.
No problems found so far - after two days use - hope this situation continues when I get beyond the basics! |

The Zumo looks nice, but wow... you're talking £500!
I wouldn't mind so much, if it was the device I was also going to use in my car, but it wont ever be, as I have my XDA which does my SatNav... this would just be an extra device. _________________ TomTom 6 - SPV M5000 and WM6

I had to return mine after a few months use on he bike and it took three months to get a new one from TT.
In terms of usage - superb - easy to use, great mapping - great in wet
In terms of design - ensure your fit is very tight otherwise the pins at the back shake and damage the contact points and this cause a lack of connection which gives you constant reboots and loss of power
End result three months with no unit and useless customer services from TT.
To me its a design fault that will reoccur! |
