Has anyone had problems with loss of audio on a Magellan 700/760?

On mine, the sound hasn't disappeared completely - you can just hear it very faintly when stationary. Running the audio diagnostic brings the sound back but only for a short while. During the short periods when it does work (after running the diagnostic), adjusting the volume control kills the sound completely. I've tried re-installing the V5.15 upgrade. I also spoke to Magellan tech support who talked me through a few tests which didn't achieve anything other than deleting my database!

Magellan told me to return it to them via the original supplier (MNC Group Plymouth), who told me it was nothing to do with them if over 28 days old!
Awaiting a reply from Magellan regarding what to do next on this as its still under warranty.

I don't know how you approached the MNC Group but they are bound by law to sort you out! I have no idea what that 28 day period they refer to means. They have an obligation to you for 1 Year after purchase. After that one year you will have to deal with magellan directly and unless they provide an extended warranty you will have to pay for all expenses/repairs.

Assuming your unit is less than 1 year old, I suggest you call the MNC Group and tell them the unit is faulty and you wish to return it. They should offer you a free-of-charge repair, or a replacement. If they wont they are breaking the law.

Having said that magellan are pretty good with support etc, in my experience, if you go to them direct. they are likely to suggest you go back to the dealer if its less than one year old though (thats due to our british laws), but if tell them what your dealer said they might provide good advice or somehow get a solution "started".
