I bought a Garmin Nuvi 310 D back in June. As a first GPS I'm very impressed with it. unfortunately not with Garmin technical support . They do not respond to email. Some are 6 weeks old now or answer the support lines - stuck on music ; so I'm paying for the call!
Does anybody know if the Nuvi 310D supports TTS - rather than saying turn left or right as my Nuvi Does, say for example "Turn left on London Road" . Literature suggests the unit does.
Another issue I have is finding locations in other Countries. I have France stored on an SD card. On trying to Find a town called "Le Tranche sur Mer" when I type in "Le Tran" on trying to type the full name the unit displays 3 or 4 towns - None of then Le Tranche Sur Mer! Typing "Le Tra" Done displays a listing with the town.
When I bought the unit the pre stored mapsource maps were out of date. So I down loaded the updates. Whilst I know the French maps are the latest, how do I know if the preloaded maps of UK and Ireland have been updated?
I upgraded the operating system to V 2.5 when it first came out. I found the routing suspect. Garmin have now reverted back to V2.4 and posted a beta V2.52 with a disclaimer on the website. |

The 300 is the same, although that was originally advertised with TTS, until it was removed (but that was months ago). The 360, however, does come with TTS (as does the 350).

Swing - Thanks for the response.
I loaded the maps from the box onto my PC V8. I then checked for updates which websources server said their were. So my conclusion is the maps were updated since shipment. My question is how do I know the pre-loaded maps for UK and Ireland have been updated with the latest information?
I also have an issue with the exchange rate calculator - when changing rates everything has to be coverted to and from US dollar. I cannot set the rate directly says between Euros and Pounds Sterling.
With regard TTS confusion comes from the Garmin website - no specifications PDF on 310. Manual is also joint with 360. I thought the only difference was size of storage and the mapping pre loaded on the devices! |
