I'm flitting between getting TTN5 on a PDA or a getting a Go 510 or a Rider (I have an open car so the Rider appeals due to its weatherproofing)
One of the things I need to do is to pre-plan different routes, each with a number of waypoints, and then save them for future use. I know this can be done on TTN5 but can it be done on the 510 or Rider ?
Also, if I can save routes on the Go / Rider can I exchange then with other tomtom users, including those with TTN5 on a PDA ? |

Yes, you can pre-plan routes on a 510/RIDER and you can share the .itn file with other TT users, although I'm not sure about cross-version exchange.
You can even make .itn files by planning the route in Autoroute and then converting it to .itn format. It makes the planning much easier on a big screen.
One thing about using a RIDER in a car; itdoesn't have a speaker, although there are ways around this which don't involve the wearing of the TT earbud. _________________ Tim |

Thanks for the replies I just have to decide whether to go for the simplicity and reliabilty of a Go versus the flexibility but (possibly) reduced reliability of a PDA.

Yes, although I have a Caterham rather than a Morgan, and getting wet is part of the experience sometimes 8O (in case you dont know what a Caterham looks like, there are a few photos here) Mine has a windscreen and a hood but its often quicker to wait for the rain to stop than to put the hood up
The lack of speaker on the Rider is a bit of a problem although I've since found the threads which mention the bluetooth speakers which can be bought seperately. Because of that I think I'm more inclined to get a 510 and put it in a freezer bag or a more durable waterproof casing. [/url] |
