I've changed the thread title to reflect your needs, and locked the other thread asking about TomTom on the iCN520. It s possible, but you need to unlock your iCN to do this. Search the forums here for information on how to do this. _________________ Tim |

Thanks Tim
sorry but Im this stupid person who just bought a navman and guessed it was just to additionally buy a sd card with poland and east europe loaded and ready to go... I really do not know so much of this computer stuff.
So an additional stupid question, what do you mean with "unlocking" my navman. Is it some code that gives me the possibility to load also tomtom maps on it?
I live in Poland and here i can find maps from a company called automapa. ( http://automapa.com.pl/?PEI=10241 )
They write like this about their maps:
""Requirements of PocketPC version
Hardware : PocketPC 2002, PocketPC 2003 or PocketPC with Windows Mobile 2005 compliant hardware.
Optional : Any GPS receiver compliant with NMEA0183 message format using a COM port.""
Does the lasat sentence mean that if navman is compliant with NMEA0183, I can use their map?
thanks for you reply and patience

I think Tim is referring to this thread on this forum
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=26892
I deals with how to "Unlock" your Navman and use it as a PDA - something that is not recommended as it invalidates your warranty.
I travel in Eastern Europe myself and have found it most frustrating not to be able to buy maps for CZ, POL, SLO, HR etc etc.
If you follow the recommendations on the thread above, then you may be able to then buy and load the Polish maps. You might want to contact Automapa first and ask them their advice. _________________ Gee-Pee

I did ask Navman about Eastern European maps and they told me that it's a feature that they are looking to add in late this year with the next SmartST upgrade. _________________ TTG 720

Thanks for all your help!
I will post the question also to automapa.
Here in Poland the brands sold with quite ok coverage of poland are tomtom and garmin.
The best pda version of map for poland seems to be automapa, according to the dealers I have spoken too.

I've heard that TeleAtlas may be providing updated maps for Navman later this year - I suppose they will be expensive. I've had a look at Automapa and note that they also cover České republiky & Slovenskej republic. If only I could get them to work on my Navman, It would be so useful. Still, thinks are moving fast so before long Eastern europe will be covered well -- I hope! _________________ Gee-Pee
