I bought the Bt 338 Global Sat GPS receiver from Elecktroworld on the Amazon Market place. My PDA doesnt lock onto any satelites when using Ttom5 with it. I then tried my BT 338 on my friends PDA and it still doesnt wrk.
Then I tried an identical receiver purchased from GPS for less and hey presto its works fine. :o
Conclusion: Do not buy from these guys, I think theyre located at 230 Kilburn Lane
London
United Kingdom
W10 4BA
UK
The guy running the show is Sanjeev Ashar.
Anyway ive filed a complaint to Amazon and I expect my money back. Then I'm going to buy it it fom Gps4less :D |

Did you actually try to contacting them first? If so what was their reaction? Anybody can make a mistake (after all they do not manufacture the receiver) a mark of a good company is how they deal with that mistake. I am sure that the place that your mate bought his receiver from will have occassionally sold a duff product (bit difficult for a retailer to test a sealed unit and then sell it as new). |

I take your point Peter but the product my friend bought had a warranty seal on his box that matches the serial nunber on his unit. No such thing on mine. further more this company under different names like gps mods has received bad references elsewhere on this forum (search under 'ashar' he's the director)
Note some customers do mention that they are happy with gps mods though...
But i wouldn't buy again. |

That address is used by a dealer on eBay who trades under several names. uncle_sams, superdog5000 and several others.
When something does go wrong they try to make out it was all your fault. You dont know how to use the item etc Sells cheap plastic crap.
Take a look at the Globalsat BT 338 GPS they sell. Ask them what firmware it has. You get the reply "Look at the description". They wont give a straight answer. Yet, they advertise it as the latest model. I asked about the serial number. No reply. I wonder why?
I was going to buy one until I found out who they were. Dealt with them before. Never again even if they were the last retailers on the planet.
(Just a bit of info about that. If the serial number is between 400-28000 it needs a firmware upgrade).
