|
|
Just been looking at the Acer Website, and notice they have released an all-in-one SatNav solution - the d100.
Expansys also appear to be selling it.
Does anyone have one, or any experiences? Is so:
What software is it running?
How does it perform?
Whats the build quality like?
Just general comments?
Thanks in advance.
Simon

Simonb,
Yeah, it looks very nice. Its interesting that its on the UK Acer website but not on the Global Acer website so it may be a Europe only thing.
The specs looks okay possibly a bit under powered (266mhx processor) but since it runs Windows CE .Net and not Pocket PC that may be okay. The hardware itself looks nice and the brochure mentions a "finger touch screen" so I suspect it can take a bit of abuse.
For 269 quid it sounds like a good choice for a deidcated nav device.
I cant wait to see a review or hear back from anyone who buys one.

oh, the brochure mentions Destinator as the nav software but given that the unit can sync with ActiveSync means you can probably hack the unit to unleash the full Win CE .Net and load other software.

I did find a website in French, that explained how to hack the o/s and there was some mention about running TomTom 5 on it.
Would make it quite a good unit, if you could. I like the buttons on the front - and the docking cradle. |
