Is there a way of downloading software from your PC directly to a particular folder on your PDA? When i activate active sync currenty it just downloads to say my documents rather than the folder I want.
Also can it download direct from the PC to a SD card inserted in the PDA or do you have to download to a folder first and then copy over?

ActiveSync:
Once you have connected PC & PDA via the ActiveSync, you can use Windows Explorer (aka File Explorer) to create directories on your PDA and shift stuff around. Using Windows Explorer, the PDA is seen as just another directory - You will find it under in the root directory as 'Mobile device'
However using ActiveSync is a long winded and slow method. If and where possible, I strongly suggest using a card reader. Take the card out of the PDA pop it into a card reader & the computer 'sees' it as another hard drive. The speed of data exchange is staggering when compared to ActiveSync
I did a speed test a couple of days ago. You may be interested in the difference:
The following is based on ONE test only. Test platform:
PDA: Dell Axim X50 and supplied Cradle.
SD card: Dane Electric 512Mb (speed not known)
Computer: 64fx54, 1Gb ram, 200Gb/150 high speed sata drive. XP home SP2
Card Reader: Packard Bell USB2 8-in-1
Task: Transfer 198 Mb file containing 28 files. (Great Britain Plus Maps with additional third party POIs)
Results:
ACTIVESYNC v3.8
Computer to SD card = 29 minutes
SD card to Computer = 9 minutes 4 seconds
CARD READER
Computer to SD Card = 2 minutes 8 seconds (13 times quicker)
SD card to Computer = 28 seconds! (19.4 time quicker!)
With Card readers costing a few dollars/pounds/euros, it is a very worth while investment if you don’t already have one. _________________ Axim X50 & TT5, Arkon CM820 powered mount with built in sirf2 gps

Or, of course, you can just click on the 'Explore' link That is provided on the ActiveSync interface. _________________ Axim X50 & TT5, Arkon CM820 powered mount with built in sirf2 gps
