Using ActiveSync to transfer data to your PDA? You may be interested in the following timing test.
The following is based on ONE test only. Test platform:
PDA: Dell Axim X50 and supplied Cradle.
SD card: Dane Electric 512Mb (speed not known)
Computer: 64fx54, 1Gb ram, 200Gb/150 high speed sata drive. XP home SP2
Card Reader: Packard Bell USB2 8-in-1
Task: Transfer 198 Mb file containing 28 files. (Great Britain Plus Maps with additional third party POIs)
Results:
ACTIVESYNC (V3.8)
Computer to SD card = 29 minutes
SD card to Computer = 9 minutes 4 seconds
CARD READER
Computer to SD Card = 2 minutes 8 seconds (13 times quicker)
SD card to Computer = 28 seconds! (19.4 time quicker!)
