|
|
Colleague at work has been trying to get a recently bought version of TT3 working.
Bought from catalogue and came with UK and a set of European maps as well.
UK all installed and activated.
They decided last week that they wanted the European maps on as they paln to go away in the summer. The problem they are having is getting an activation code.
After contacting TT Customer support via e-mail they have been told the only way they will get an activation code now is to PAY to upgrade from TT3 to TT5.
This sort of surprises me as I would have thoght you bought the right to use it for as lonmg as you wanted and to activate it within reason on the same device at any time you wish. being teh purchase is only a couple of montsh old to be told tehy MUST upgrade to get the features they have paid for seems a little excessive. A free upgarde being offered would have been understandable to make the customer service operation easier.
Any ne any first hand experience of what should happen or how it should be resolved please.
Thanks,
Andy |

Depends what european maps you talk about. If it's just MRE then you can use v3. If you plan on using the new Plus maps then yes, they will only work with v5 _________________ Lutz

Sorry obviously not explained myself clearly enough
They have the TT3 CD for GB and that is activated.
At the time of purchase the bundle included other European CD's which they have until the last week not bothered with.
As they are travelling to France in the Summer they wanted to activate the French CD they have, with product code etc, just when they try to do it following the instructions enclosed the web page is not present.
So they have e-mailed customer services expecting to be either given the activation code ( they mailed product Id and device ID to CS ) or directed to a moved web page.
Instead they are being told they must upgrade to TT5 in order to install the maps they have already purchased but not yet used.
The only activation codes CS are issueing are for TT5 apparently.
So it appears that because they bought just a few months back, a complete pack, but chose to only install the UK maps initially, their purchase is reduced in value significantly as they can't use something they have bought without paying more to get an upgrade they don't want ( TT3 to TT5 ).
I would have thought they were obliged to issue activation codes for legitimate purchases of older versions, for some time after a new release , or offer a free upgrade if it is simply they cannot create the keys any longer.
Then again it could all be a big misunderstanding, just seeing if anyone else has come across this or offer suggestions.
Thanks,
Andy |
